Backyard House is a small 60 m2 (645 sq ft) house in the back yard of an existing house. It is organized as an open space with a living room, kitchen and dining room on the ground floor and a gallery with a bedroom and a small work area open to the ground floor. The terrace on the first floor covers the entrance to the house.
The house had to be placed 90 cm from the fence of the plot with the floor additionally set back another 60 cm. That side of the house is also the north side (sunny side in the southern hemisphere), which is why a narrow passage was formed between the fence of the lot and the glazed wall of the living room, which easily turns into an open space with sliding elements.
